Söngvakeppnin has just come to an end! Greta will to represent Iceland in Eurovision Song Contest 2016!…

After “Super Final” Iceland has decided!

Greta was chosen following two rounds of voting. The first round two songs was selected by combination of jury and televoting. After that in round 2 or “Super Final”, the winner was chosen by 100% televoting.

Guests of the night was the 2012’s winner Loreen and Eurovision youngest winner Sandra Kim.

Song: Hear Them Calling

1-Greta Salóme Stefánsdóttir

Does she sound familiar yes cause she sing in Baku in 2012 with the song “Never Forget”. She came 20th in the final. Now she want to try her chance with the song “Raddirnar” which means “The Voices”. But they translated song as “Hear Them Calling”.Can she represent Iceland again ?

Both English and Icelandic version had written by herself.

2-Erna Hrönn Ólafsdóttir & Hjörtur Traustason

Song : I Promised You Then

They will try their chance with the song “Hugur minn er” and it means “My Mind Is” In English. They’ve translated the song as “I Promised You Then”

Both English and Icelandic had written by Þórunn Erna Clausen.

3-Karlotta Sigurðardóttir 

Song: Eye Of The Storm

“Óstöðvandi” is one of the strong entries of Söngvakeppnin 2016. It’s an original song with a good voice. It has a nice vibe Goofd Luck Karlotta. It means “Unstoppable” in English. They have translated as “Eye Of The Storm”

As ESCape news we made an interview with Karlotta and  you can read  from here. Icelandic had written by herself, Kristinn Sigurpáll Sturluson, Ylva Persson, Linda Persson but English version had written without her.

4-Þórdís Birna Borgarsdóttir & Guðmundur Snorri Sigurðarson 

Song: Ready to Break Free

Their song was “Spring yfir heiminn” in the semi-final it has rap parts so that made a fan-base for them who knows maybe they would represent Iceland in Stockholm.

Both English and Icelandic had written by Júlí Heiðar Halldórsson and Guðmundur Snorri Sigurðarson.

5-Alda Dís Arnardóttir

Song: Now

She is one of the favorites by the fans for tonight. She sang “Augnablick” in Semi.

Icelandic had written by herself, Alma Guðmundsdóttir, James Wong but English version had written without her.

6-Elísabet Ormslev

Song: A Ny

She will be the only singer who sings in Icelandic. That could put additional points to her.

Song has written by Greta Salóme Stefánsdóttir.

 

Iceland will perform in the second half of the first semi-final on 10 May 2016. What do you think about Iceland’s choice?
