Turkey hasn’t been participating to Eurovision Song Contest since 2012, asserts various reasons.
Turkey’s Vice President Fuat Oktay replied a MP’s question about Turkish participation in the Eurovision Song Contest.
This is what he said;
- “The rating system of the contest was changed in 2009 with decreasing the votes of televiewer’s to 50% and adding 50% jury votes to determine the results. Institution (TRT) withdrew the contest concerning its drawbacks about the contest. It is also evaluated that privileged 5 countries’ non participation in the semi final, which gives them right to compete directly in the final, is unjust and every country should compete on the same footing. Turkey will also consider to comeback if a more fair system established”
