The broadcaster SBS and production partner Blink TV have made a decision that Alexa Curtis will be singing at 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest for the name her country Australia.
Although Australia has been broadcasting the JESC since 2003, for the first time they participated and performed in this stage last year. Bella Paige had sung the song “My Girls”, and finished in 8th place in Sofia. This year 12 years old Aleca Custis will represent her country in Valletta. Alexa’s song entry and Australia’s voting jury will be announced in the coming weeks. No doubt Australia has already proved that they attach importance to Eurovision Song Contests, and want to be winner of that plartforms.
Alexa said: “I was so excited when I found out that I would be representing Australia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Malta. I think I am still a little bit in shock to be honest. I would like to thank SBS for this once in a lifetime opportunity. I know it’s going to be a crazy experience but I just can’t wait to get over there and do what I love doing most: singing for people. I can’t wait to perform my song. I really love it and hope Australia and the rest of the world will too”.
