Söngvakeppnin’s 1st and 2nd Semi Final will be held in Haskolabio on 9 and 16 February. The Grand Final of Söngvakeppnin will be held at Laugardalshöll Arena on 2 March.
It was announced that 132 songs were applied to the national finals. All of these songs have to be in Icelandic language. 10 songs will compete for the first time in Söngvakeppnin and in the Grand Final there will be only 5 songs.

The winning song of the competition will be determined by a 2-stage vote. In the first round, the songs of the first 2 participants with the combination of the public jury and the international jury will pass to the Superfinal tour.
In the Superfinal round, the contestant with the highest number of televotes will represent Iceland in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest.
