After the reconciliation between Russia and Turkey, now Russia can be the newest member of the TURKSOY.
In late 2015 Turkey downed Russian jet near the Syrian border and after that the relations between these countries went worse.
A couple weeks ago Turkish President Erdoğan sent a letter to Putin and said “we feel sorry and share your pain”. Putin welcomed the letter warmly and gave an order to restore the relations with Turkey.
2 days ago Russian FM Sergei Lavrov said “we are ready to cooperate with TÜRKSOY we have Turkic population and we are honoured to protect Turkic culture in Russia. And I can’t see a reason to not join to TURKSOY”
